Student Council Project
Please help support Student Council with their wonderful service project. This project is close to my heart... Mr. Peck served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. I know many Beauclerc students have friends and relatives that are now serving in the Middle East. These men and women are dedicated to serving us... now we have a chance to do something for them. Let's show them how much Beauclerc cares.....

Our student council President and Vice President kick off our drive.....

5th Grade News.....
It was a very short week but a lot went on with the Apes. Mr. G has just about finished his Holocaust Study and we are finally ready to start our first Holocaust novel. We are going to read, "Number the Stars" by Lois Lowry. It takes place in Denmark, where the Danes just considered the Jews their countrymen. They, unlike other countries, "saved" their Jews. This story is about two girls, one Christian and one Jewish, who are best friends. The Christian family risks everything to save their Jewish friends. I don't want to tell you any more.... you'll just have to wait and see.
Mrs. Hartless was demonstrating revolution, rotation, and discussing what causes the seasons. It was fun to see Robby be the earth revolving around Mrs. H, the sun. Then William was the sun while Mrs. H was the earth. Who thought science could be so "Hands-On"!
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow.....

We had our Vocabulary Test on Wednesday and I checked them coming back from Tallahassee. Most everyone did very well. We will spend a little more time this week on our skill and then you will have the Selection Test on "By the Shores of Silver Lake".
In Math Mrs. Gaspard continues to work on Arrays. On Wednesday she made math not only "FUN" but also "TASTY"! given an array of one section of cookies, everyone had to Estimate how may cookies were in the package. There were some great strategies used to come up with our estimates. And.... of course we ate the cookies when we were finished!
Hope you had a restful weekend.... looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.....
