I am posting early this week because I will be gone, Thursday, Friday, & Monday. My second son is getting married in Nashville, Tennessee. 5th Grade News....
.

What a week..... I think we are all Benchmark Tested out! It was soooooo good to get back in my rocking chair and get back to reading. I can't hardly believe we are almost finished with "Crash". I'm sad I won't be with you when you finish it because of my son's wedding. Can't wait to get back and find out what you think about Crash's character at the end of the book.

Today we introduced our new vocabulary for our selection story on Volcanoes. Neat video ,Mr. G. You really make our word study come to life! Our skill for this story is categorize and classify. We will talk about that tomorrow. Due to testing, I haven't spent much time with Mrs. H this week. Can't wait to get back in there and have you all teach me some Math!

I will miss you while I am gone. But will enjoy my time with my family and this special occasion. Can't wait to get a new "daughter"!

Love you...... Mrs. P

4th Grade News

It has been another unusual week. I have been busy testing my 5th Graders with the County Benchmark Test. That means I don't get to see that much of you 4th Graders... but I know Mrs. Gaspard and Mrs. Nelson have kept you busy.

In Reading, we finished our story Akiak and took the Selection Test. Everyone did pretty well on the skills test on Story Structure. While I am gone, Mrs. Nelson is going to read you some other stories about our theme, Journeys. When I return we will start our second story, "Grandfather"s Journey". This is an interesting story that spans time and generations.

In Math, Mrs. Gaspard is continuing on the Numeration unit. I noticed today you are working on ordering numbers. She was doing a "Yummy" lesson on estimation the other day.... something to do with "Tootsie Rolls"?????

Have a great rest of the week. I will miss you while I'm gone and will bring back lots of pictures from the wedding....

Love you..... Mrs. P
