I'll be back tomorrow.....

I have had a very difficult week but have thought of you all often. As you read in Mrs. Ryan's and Mrs. Ross's blog my dad passed away Tuesday. ALL of our family was able to spend a wonderful weekend with him 3 weeks ago and my two sisters and I were able to be with him this week. He had an awesome life of almost 91 years and we will honor him with a "Celebration" of his life next weekend. Here are a few pictures of our last weekend with him and my sisters and I putting together some things for the "Celebration" next weekend.

Thank you for all the prayers and thoughts.....

Love you...... Mrs. P

4th Grade News.....

It was great to see everyone after our Spring Break. My Book Club has started our new novel, "The In-Between Days" . This is a great novel for "Inference". We definitely are having to read between the lines. You don't realize it yet, but our main character, "Georgie" is going to change over the course of the story.

In Writing we are working on Response to Literature. We wrote one together before the break.... now each student is writing their own response to one of my favorite books, "Up the Learning Tree". Some are ready to start revising tomorrow.

Hope you have a great weekend.... Love you... Mrs. P

5th Grade News

I finally got some pictures of Mrs. Hartless teaching math.... The Apes & Heroes are exploring Polygons! I heard them talking about sides and angles. Looks like they are learning and having fun.

In Reading our skill this week is "Propaganda". At first I thought this was an unusual skill, but we learned that we are surrounded by propaganda and there is more that one kind. The novel we are now reading is "Where the Red Fern Grows". It was originally published in 1961 and some of the expressions are bringing back "memories"...... I have made many connections to our main character, Billy, and his experiences in the woods. We have been able to practice many of our strategies and skills while reading this novel.

I was amazed at how everyone just slid right back into our routine after Spring Break. It's hard to believe that we only have less than 2 months left together... (sniff... sniff...)

Hope you have a great weekend..... Love you..... Mrs. P
