4th Grade News.....

It's been a productive week in Rm 130. In Reading, we are continuing to work on Compare/Contrast. We are beginning Book clubs. Each group will be reading a different novel and will be meeting with Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Ross, or Mrs. Peck. Mitchell will be leading the fourth group! Great idea Mrs. Ryan & Mrs. Ross!!!! Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Ross have also worked out a computer schedule for each student to have time to work on reinforcing some skills.

In Writing we are working on putting dialogue in our writing. The past week, we have been learning the proper conventions we have to use in dialogue. We reviewed for our test with a cooperative hand-on activity. It was fun and a good learning experience.

In Social Studies we are continuing to work on our Florida Unit. Do you know which Native Americans lived in which area of Florida???? The Ry/Ro's do.

In Science, we have moved to the respiratory system. Nice vest Mrs. Ross!!!

A Blast from the "Past"...

Mr. G found this "old" radio at a flea market.... this was what it was like in the time period Mr. G has been takling about.

This is an "old" filmstrip projector.... there were NO VCR's or DVD Players in Mrs. P's "time". You should have seem the strange looks from student's as I rolled the cart down to Room 130. No, Tania.... this didn't come from Abraham Lincoln's time! I'm not THAT old!

5th Grade News.....

Today Mr. G finished talking about the New Deal and started explaining how propaganda, discrimination and the hatred of one man led to the Holocaust. Understanding what led to this horrible time in World History, is the first step in preparing for our next three novels. This background knowledge will help you gain an understanding of what the characters in these three novels are going through. I can't wait to start "Number the Stars"!

In writing, we are publishing our stories. Could there be a "book" in our future????

I was sooooooo proud of the Apes and Heroes on Tuesday. Mr. G had a Foundations workshop and I had to spend part of the day with my 4th graders.The substitute that helped me was soooooo complimentary of the students in Rm 71 & 73. You make Mr. G and me proud!
