5th Grade News.....

It's another "short" week but we are right back into the swing of things. Our novel, "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas", is reaching a turning point. Our main characters are becoming more complex. Our two main characters are perfect for practicing our skill of comparing and contrasting.... There is so many reading strategies and skills we can practice while reading this novel. Can you believe how many good novels we have read about the Holocaust?????

In Math we are working on our final skills to get us ready for Middle School. It seems hard to believe that we only have 7 more weeks together..... (siff...sniff...) but there are a lot of fun activities to enjoy with each other before you leave Beauclerc.

Have a wonderful holiday....whether you will be celebrating Easter...Passover...or just a long weekend.

Love you...Mrs. P
Our novel has reached a pivotal point.....

Back to our "Routine"...

It was good to get back into the "swing" of things today.

4th Graders....
Your Responses to Literature are grrrreat! Tomorrow I will read you another book and we will do another response. I think you can NOW see the difference between a "retelling" and "making judgments". Isn't "Humphrey" a riot? I think he is my favorite non-human book character. He has such a great sense of humor! Wonder what his next adventure will be?

5th Graders....
You finally met "THE" boy in the striped pajamas! Is he what you thought????? This is where the book really starts to take a turn. You will be amazed at what good friends these two characters become in such a short time. Can you figure out WHY?????

See you tomorrow...

Love you.... Mrs. P

Herb Gardening.... Finishing a good novel..... and RELAXING!

I finally stopped long enough to finish the Holocaust novel that Mr. G gave me to read. Every time I think my heart can't be touched any more by Holocaust stories...I find that I am wrong. This book made me think of a survivor that Mr. G and I met at the Holocaust Institute we attended last summer. M------'s face kept coming to my mind as I read the story of Blima. I soooo admire the courage and internal fortitude these survivors had. They had to be very special individuals to have endured what they did.

Mr. Peck and I also planted and revived our herb garden. Yes.... I was out in the yard again! Spread a little more mulch... planted some azaleas.... and cleaned out our fountain. Today we relaxed on the porch and watched for the birds to come feed!

As sad as it is to see Spring Break end.... I am looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow....

Love you... Mrs. P

Another "moving" and "thought-provoking" Holocaust novel.....

"The Peck Tomato and Herb Garden.....

The Oregano never missed a beat through the winter.....

The Chives didn't, either.....

We planted Basil new..... Everyone good "Italian" has to have basil....

The Rosemary is also a new plant.....

The Tarragon came back up from last year...

Italian Parsley did, too.....

We're trying Thyme from seed.....

The Peppermint has its own pot...

Our Tomato plant has a "bloom"...

Mr. Peck is working on one of my favorite salads... Grilled chicken with basil pesto dressing...YUM!

He's the REAL chef in the house.....

Relaxing on the porch waiting for the birds.....

Love the relaxing sound of the fountain.....

All mulched-out.... so now on to the decorating.....

Just like at school (rolling through the halls)... Mrs. Peck doesn't sit around for very long. I always have to have something that I am doing. Sometimes Mr. Peck makes me "sit down and smell the roses".....

Welcome to the Peck House at Bunny Time.....

On the Hall Table is Papa Bunny..... Mimi Bunny.....
Madison Bunny..... and Chase Bunny.....

Most of the Peck Bunnies live in the Family Room....

This is "Betty" Bunny.....she likes to read novels.......

This is "Bob" Bunny.....he likes to work on the computer...

We call this bunny "Droopy"....because of the ears.....

This is an Easter doll I've had for many, many, years.....

These two bunnies just like to "hang" around the Peck house...

My Easter Village.... the bunnies on the ends are....
salt & pepper shakers I'll use for Easter dinner....

This is a "special" bunny...it was given to me by
Mrs. Trammell....Beauclerc's principal before Mrs. Peters.

These Easter decorations are sitting on some furniture that Mr. Peck made.... he's a great carpenter.....

This one is "special"..... it was made by the grandmother of a Beauclerc student I had 20 years ago.......

Kitchen "Bunny" placemats.....

Yes, I even decorate the guest bathroom.....

What else......Bunny towels.....
