Ape Luncheon.....

I always thought Apes liked "Bananas"! They have been know to eat pizza once a month... but yesterday it was "HOT DOGS" in Rm 71 & 73. This month's luncheon was a Hot Dog Feast! I believe I heard one Ape say he had eaten 4... and did the "Head" Ape say he ate 3? At any rate we had a blast as usual and the parents were there for support. Here are some photos I took...

5th Grade News....

It's been a week of testing, testing, and more testing. We took the Duval County Benchmark Tests in Reading, Math and Science. We did find time to do some math, science, and Reading of "Freak the Mighty". It's hard to believe we are over half way done with this novel. It is a truly moving story of an unbelievable friendship between two boys that are totally different yet mutually loyal to each other. Each boy has had tragedy in his life... yet with the support of each other, they can face whatever is ahead of them.

Due to testing.. Recess time was delayed... and I actually was able to go out on the playground (something I never get to do). Here are some pictures of the Apes enjoying their break from testing...

Tomorrow is our "Hot Dog" Luncheon... a first, at least in the 5 years I have worked with Mr. G. I will post some pictures this weekend...

4th Grade News
It's been a week of testing... Duval County Benchmark testing that is. We did find time to continue our preparation for the FCAT Writing Assessment. We are almost there..... and we are READY! I was so proud of Shaylen, Zoe, Christina, and Devon tonight... they participated in the Parent Workshop for Writing. I also saw Fiorella helping with the Reading part, too. The MGN Studio Kids were well represented.

After testing we did a "YUMMY" and fun activity to give us "Hands-On" experience understanding the correlation of fractions and decimals. Next week we move on to percentages and then get to EAT the M&M's.

Thank you Beauclerc for another wonderful Student Council Service Project! Once again we came through to help others. The ladies from Wolfson Children's Hospital Auxiliary were soooo impressed with all the art supplies we brought to them this afternoon.
