It's great to be back.....

I usually post on Thursdays, but it was so great to be back on my schedule and IN the classrooms! So many exciting things are going on in Rm 131, 71, & 73.

4th Grade is jumping right into Word Study, Routines, and Numeration. It was exciting to see the students recognize patterns in Calendar Math and "physically" demonstrate place value. After much concentration on Math, Mrs. Nelson helped us "unwind" with some Dancersize..... I love to dance......

5th Grade is working on the Reading skill of Sequencing and we are well into our first novel, "Crash". Our two main characters, Crash and Penn are quite different. Today we met Mike a burly football player and somewhat of a bully. Do you wonder how Penn will react to his actions, or can you already predict from what we know about his character?

In 5th grade math, we are discussing Division. Today, I was with Mrs. H's class and was amazed how they created their own story problem when given a dividend and divisor. Then, some of the Hartless Apes came up and presented their problem.

First Day.....

This posting 5th Grade gets "top" billing... I usually alternate putting 4th and 5th Grade first. Mrs. P got to school really early this morning and decided to get some pictures BEFORE our students got to class. Then in between all my running around helping the office with First Day business, I popped in and took some pictures AFTER students arrived. I think my teachers and I have some "AWESOME" students this year. Can't wait to get to class tomorrow and spend some time with you...

Summer Break is OVER...

Well, it's back to school for Mrs. P on Monday.... but this weekend Chase came over for one last "Summer Sleep Over". It was a rainy afternoon, so we decided to make our annual trek to MOSH. Mr. P had not been in quite a while, so we brought him along, too.

We saw the Human Body Exhibit, and all the usual exhibits on display, but the special exhibit was "Narnia, the Exhibit". I couldn't take any photos, but it was very interesting. On display were costumes and props from the movie, plus many other interesting facts and info about the author and movie.

We had an unexpected treat.... "Reptile Rescue" had several reptiles with their "rescue" owners there to share their experiences. Yes, I actually petted a Boa, Viper, Iguana, and a Skink! We had a wonderful afternoon and then went to dinner to celebrate Son #1's birthday. It's hard to believe he is 36 years old! I guess I really am getting "old".

Looking forward to getting with Mr. G, Mrs. Hartless, Mrs. Gaspard, and Mrs. Nelson, to plan for your return to school.

Good Luck to our "old" 5th graders..... I know you will remember all that we taught you and will make us proud at whatever Middle School you attend. Be sure to come back and visit......

Love you... Mrs. P
