4th Grade News

In Writing we have been learning some authors' crafts like sensory details and vivid verbs. We had fun going on a Vivid Verb Hunt using the Thesaurus. Then we made VV Suns to help us remember those Vivid Verbs and use them in our writing.

In reading we extended our selection story on the Titanic and incorporated some math activities. Have you ever thought about how long the Titanic was in "Centimeters"!!!! Ask one of the "Ry" or "Ro" kids. They can tell you. This week we will be talking about Author's Viewpoint and reading "Grandfather's Journey". Hmmm....wonder what your viewpoint is???
Searching for those "Vivid Verbs"!

Measuring the Titanic is "hard" work!!!

5th Grade News

We are finally finished with our "Scary" Stories. Mr. G and I were really engaged and entertained as each of you read your stories. I can't believe this was your "1st" published piece. Imagine what your end of the year story will be like!!!

In reading, this week we will be reading two selections and talking about how to "compare & connect" two pieces of reading. Mrs. Whitelaw's class finished "Maniac Magee" Mr. G's class will finish it on Monday. As we continue our Jerry Spinelli author study, we will be starting "Crash" this week. Get ready to meet more complex Spinelli characters that will touch your heart.

Thanks to the parents who came to the end of the month luncheon. Hopefully ALL students will meet their book goal and be able to attend in October. It promises to be "special"!
We "Love" our Scary Stories....Don't you?
